Karen Krumm

I find collaborating with different mediums, textures, and collage materials challenging and oh so fun. I’m always on the lookout for a new “something” to stir in the pot. Pulling it all together, with bright colors, makes my heart sing.

I am deeply drawn to, and protective of, the natural world around us and that is predominately what my work is about. If I can bring my viewer along for a closer look and appreciation of the beauty around us…well that’s a good thing.

Other than a few art classes in collage, I have no formal training as an artist.  Most of what I have learned has been through workshops and experimentation.  In the past ten years, I have had the privilege to spend a lot more time painting and in the studio.  Other than painting, I am an avid birder and nature observer.  I love to garden and hope to spend more time traveling in the future. One bucket list goal is to complete a painting at ever state park in Texas, and as many national parks as I can.

Since I’m currently into collage based art, I spend most of my creative time in the studio.  However; I love to plein air paint very much.  I am torn between the thick luster of oil paint, and the bright quick dry of acrylics.  And, there is always a new medium to experiment with.
